Mary Cariola Children’s Center (MCCC) does remarkable work every day with children and youth with a diverse set of complex needs. But the common need they all share is money—funding for everyday necessities, unexpected needs and special improvements. A rebrand for their annual fundraising event, Walking on Sunshine, led to a heartwarming campaign comparing the children at MCCC to aspects of the sun. Far surpassing registrants and financial goals, the campaign was so well loved, were asked to leverage the campaign elements to support a $5 million capital campaign. The We Will Shine case statement asked for the community’s support for a variety of necessary projects. And as a unique and heartfelt thank you to donors, we designed a template for individual paintings that allowed the remarkable kids of MCCC to paint and let both their creativity and their appreciation shine.
